Ode to WOLFSTAR BIG BANG SIGN UPS!!!

 Now that it’s officially December, it’s time to get things moving for the 2018 Wolfstar Big Bang! Head on over to Dreamwidth from now through January 5th to sign up as an artist or writer.

 

You can check out our detailed FAQ and timeline on Dreamwidth or Tumblr, but here are the basics:

 

 Writers are committing to a story minimum of 30k words.

Artists are committing to a minimum of 3 pieces of artwork.

       All work must be original and unpublished.

All participants must be over the legal age of consent in their country of residence.

Sign ups end on January 5th, submissions are due June 30th. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of chatting and check-ins during the creative period!

OMG, your experience with reading the series sounds so much like mine - the bookstore my mom worked at got a bunch orders of them because "the book about a boy and magic - it's selling really well in the U.K." So, my mom brought it home for me to read, late 1998, and it was the only book I hadn't read in my room, I was 11. 12 when Chamber of Secrets came out.

God, I was in that angsty period when I started reading R/S fanfic. I was in Paris at an internet cafe reading fanfic of heartbreaking R/S, and it hurt so good, because #angstseeking

It all depends what age and how much of the series you've been able to charge on through. Particularly if you were 20 or more. I was 13 for PoA, and I didn't think much of it, because I was so happy for Harry and Sirius, I guess. And their fleeting moment. I was still young enough to be connected to the parents Harry never had.

When did you first start reading Harry Potter?: My Aunt bought us the first couple of book when I was younger. Addicted ever since haha
What was it in the books that made you see a Remus/Sirius romance: ir interactions always made me smile and during Ootp it really sunk in. They reminded me of a couple I was friends with. And as stated above, joint presents

I think I was around the same age (whatever middle school age is)? But the difference I think is because their interaction in the shack reminded me a lot of my uncle and his "special friend". So I guess it's more accurate to say I don't think I knew right away they were gay, just they were like that. LOL.

Awwww, that's a sweet story – you recognized the different vibe, but it didn't have a name. TBH, the more I think about it, the more I realize that I don't remember how I got into R/S. It was most likely because I loved them so much in Harry's life and what they meant to him, so I was always happy to "see" them...TBH, I never applied any sexuality to them at all. I have a great memory, but I genuinely am unsure, lolol.

Is he really referred to has his "special friend"? it's so 1980 "Longtime Companion".

I love the last answer, I'm really bad at being comfortable with non-canon stuff. I don't watch the movies, and I've grown so comfortable with what is canon - the 7 books, and because I knew before things started getting out of hand, that includes the Dumbledore!Gay "revelation". But now all these other remote "canons" are coming out - only visual - and I've had to draw the line. Canon to me is all 7 books and I'm happy we have a Sirius birthday (made my RS games present so much "easier"), and gay Dumbledore. Nothing more counts. And I DON'T ever want to hear anything from Pottermore. The 7 books are what they are. Anything I draw is either AU or sticks to canon or isn't not. Does that make sense?

And omg, harry almost birthday! I'm guessing the 15th??

Welcome! It's nice to have a few books to read at once rather than having to wait, isn't it? And yes, they are basically a domestic couple in OOTP and idk how no one managed to point that out to JKR during the editing process. I like to think someone brought it up but a devoted wolfstar shipper on staff was like, "Nah, let it go, it's fine ;)"

I do love them in Harry's life! It was like Harry was finally going to have a happy family life with adults that care about his well-being! I think the sexuality thing probably came along afterward...probably in the middle where we were/are sorting ours out. But it's hard for me to say cause I keep falling in and out of the fandom depending on Sirius' life status. LOL.

Haha. My uncle used some endearment in Italian that I can't remember but he always says it translates into "a special friend". Now he just openly says "boyfriend" (granted, it's no longer the same person beause time is a funny thing).

I threw my book down and said, "HE BELONGS TO SIRIUS" and stood very still for a minute, realizing what this meant. From then on I was a hardcore wolfstar shipper

The more I think and think about when I really did get into R/S, the more I have no clue, but FUCK that Tonks scene. I do think that I hated their dialogue, how out-of-the-blue it was (yay, a spunky colorful character - FOR ONE BOOK), and how Remus was never happy with her. I checked, and he only smiles about the baby. He's always miserable, otherwise. D:
