Check-In

Now that spring has sprung, we figured we'd do a quick check-in to see where everyone's at!

Leave a comment or send us an email (wolfstarbigbangmods at gmail) and let us know how you're doing. You don't need to have hit any milestones yet, and if you're concerned about timing, outlines, deadlines, content, too short, too long, too wtf, etc, now's the time to let us know! We're more than happy to work with you to make sure everyone is able to participate!

Ode to Gettin' it Done!

Now that we're all paired up and brainstorming, it's time to get serious about creating our fic and art! If you're one of those authors who can down six espressos and bang out 10k in a day, then feel free to sip margaritas and watch Black Mirror until 27 June. For those of us looking for something at a more steady rate, here are some stats for you:

Starting today, 5 March, we've got nearly four months (118 days!) until the 30 June due date. If you write 500 words per day, you'll have your 30k locked down by Saturday, 5 May, giving you plenty of time to edit, and the ability to take a break from writing without falling behind.

Alternatively, if you write 1,875 words per week (or about 268 words per day), you'll be done on 23 June with a week to spare.

We've set up a word sprinting room and a channel in our Discord chat to keep ourselves accountable and cheer each other on, or feel free to comment here when you need some encouragement!

Checking In!

We hope everyone's 2018 is off to a great start! As the due date for author outlines (2 February) draws nearer, we figured we'd do a quick check-in to make sure everyone's on track! If you haven't joined our Discord chat, be sure to check it out and join the other participants as we brainstorm, vent, and support each other!

We're asking that each participant reply to this post and let us know you're still on board and hype for the Big Bang. For some added fun, you can also share one of your New Years resolutions with the gang.

**Another note for all participants- please be sure you are following the DW community so that you don't miss any announcements and have access to all participant-only posts. You might want to follow our RSS feed as well.**

Ode to a Happy Birthday to Severus Snape & Richard Nixon...

I'm sure you're all aware that today is the birthday of a controversial character...

Happy Birthday, Richard Nixon!

... and Severus Snape, of course!

In honor of the Half Blood Prince's birthday, we've got two gifts. First, Nacho's drawn up a sample outline for you authors to peruse for inspiration. And yes, this is Nachos' actual WSBB outline, though it is slightly (er, or significantly) spruced up so as to be legible to those of you who aren't fluent in over-hype chicken scratch.

Please feel free to leave a comment here or in Discord (or reach out to Nacho directly!) if you have any questions (wolfstarbigbangmods@gmail.com). This isn't a hard and fast template, but please do keep in mind that in order for artists to get an accurate feel for each story, we will have to maintain some consistency.

Outlines are also a great way to get an overview of your story and ensure that it is balanced and coherent. We know that some of you haven't written many long stories before, so feel free to start up some conversation if you need advice or an outline beta. For you veteran authors out there, go ahead and spill your secrets and tips on how to put together a cohesive story line!

Nacho's making us work, but never fear, Jamie is here to make sure we have some fun as well!

Ode to WOLFSTAR BIG BANG SIGN UPS!!!

Now that it’s officially December, it’s time to get things moving for the 2018 Wolfstar Big Bang! Head on over to Dreamwidth from now through January 5th to sign up as an artist or writer.

You can check out our detailed FAQ and timeline on Dreamwidth or Tumblr, but here are the basics:

Writers are committing to a story minimum of 30k words.

Artists are committing to a minimum of 3 pieces of artwork.

All work must be original and unpublished.

All participants must be over the legal age of consent in their country of residence.

Sign ups end on January 5th, submissions are due June 30th. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of chatting and check-ins during the creative period!
